Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Not sure why the company still have those meetings. Honesty in answer questions and be transparent was not on the table at all.

But one thing we learn…Exxon don’t care about attrition, the speech was: we will have to deal with this going forward. This give a clear message that besides Exxon pretend they don’t understand what is going on address the issues is not on the table.

Let's be clear. 1) The company does not care if the bottom 40% quit (this is non-regrettable attrition). All of them are replacable. 2) the company does care when top people quit...but XOM is overstaffed (especially in management) and plenty of talent available, so these people are also replaceable. Many of these will retire soon with interest rates going up.

The issue is that DW, the MC, HR and our senior leaders only care about shareholders even though they tout people as being our greatest asset. I don’t think they’ve woken up to the ramifications of the great resignation and realize that to be competitive in this new environment, they need to actually care about people first and that includes job security, competitive pay that rewards performance while also spreading pay more equally, structure teams and organizations appropriately to actually empower people, relentlessly prioritize, focus on actual service improvements vs continued shuffling of work to third parties and MSP, etc. this would in turn result in shareholders being taken care of. Until they realize this, our culture problem will not be solved and other companies will continue to capture our market share.

None of these forums were ever intended to ask for employees’ input or to gauge the morale or culture. On the contrary, these talking heads are given a script to read and they are there to spoon feed it to all of us like little baby birds waiting for momma bird to regurgitate into our waiting mouths. You will be assessed on how well you continue to propagate their message.
