Reduction of management

Just one short question: why do many here think that losing a large percentage of management would improve morale and productivity?

EM created extra layers of management as training positions for chosen people to grow into executive positions that are also extra and not required.

2 layers of management should be eliminated then after 1 year any group not able to survive without another layer of management can request one layer be reinstated.

I predict every group would figure out how to thrive such that no group would request any layer be place above them.

XOM could easily eliminate 1-2 layers of management in certain areas and free up money for employees who actually do work.

Fewer Managers would lead to fewer Meetings and fewer PowerPoints.

Everyone would be happier with fewer meetings and fewer PowerPoints.

Imagine a workplace where your management actually knew the work and could hold a conversation about the work without a “One Pager”.

Simple! Most are self serving liars that aren’t worth the check they steal each month.

Just one long answer. Here at the O&A Chemical plant in Beaumont over management has beat the morale down. So many good people have come to work here with stars in their eyes only to turn bitter or just quit. So much micro management doesn’t allow employee’s voices to be heard. First line supervision only relays information no real decision made at this level that’s a shame. Massive overtime and unnecessary projects has made family life a thing of the past. So for such a small question about mid management reduction my answer is to many cooks spoil the broth. So let’s get the broth back to good.

Losing managers at EM?
Do you mean managers willingly leaving for positions in other companies?
There aren't that many private prisons or oligarchs hiring right now.
You are deluded.

The company just keeps moving bad managers and supervisors around, just plain sad…
