Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How actively you are looking for a new job

or are you still waiting for something to change for the better here, even though you know that the probability of that happening is zero?

Preparing to hand in my resignation email. Enjoying completing my last pds form in which I brag about my nonexistent accomplishments, inflate the value of my irrelevant projects, and embellish it with power verbs and leadership behaviors while I don't give a fk about it.

I quit looking for another position when I found the pictures of a manager doing unspeakable acts with a goat. Now, I get 20% of his salary every month in addition to my own salary.

Definitely looking and you should be too. To the poster who thinks the company will repay loyalty, you will be disappointed. Many of us used to think that.

I'm in the window shopping phase right now. I'm naive and think the company will do right by those who have stuck it out and are busting their rear ends through numerous reorgs in a period where we will achieve record or near record profits as a company. So I'd say passively looking with my 5 year vesting period on the horizon. Frankly given inflation coupled with our results I would think anything less than 10% is embarrassing after the negligible amount last year.

In the digital world we live in today, it is pretty easy for any corporation to know who is interviewing where and with whom even if it is once a year.

Regarding being top 25 in Argentina, the economy over there is so beaten up, there might not be more than 25 companies with LinkedIn presence. Ranking 25 in Argentina would be equivalent to rank 1000 in the US.

I recommend updating your main resume 1-2 times a year and maintaining a detailed list of items you can use to tailor your resume for specific jobs. Reference the X-Y-Z formula.
It’s not a bad idea to interview at least once a year if you find interesting jobs you’d be open to. Exxon won’t find out, just be smart about it.

Have you completely given up that nothing would change here? The Glassdoor rating of our fearless (but incompetent) leader DW is increased upto 40%, we are top 25 in Argentina (Dow kicker doesn't count), we are hiring again (even HC10 and def. at BTC), we are now verbalizing all over linkedin how great it is to work for the company, we are making record profits....on and on....

Are you still sure that nothing will change?
