ECMO forced into a soul sucking call center job before getting laid off

Highly skilled people forced into this workforce share BS because the leaders don’t know WTH they are doing and put in a call center role strapped to a headset 8 hours a day and then threatened write ups for p-e breaks or headaches to get off the phones is wrong. They know they are laying off those people but those people are also are quitting. What a slap in the face. They get WF out of consent orders and their response is: Here’s a demotion and your jobs are over in July. FU** YOU Wells. I hope attrition happens so bad you beg people to come to work for you because too many people quit on you AND you aren’t able to fill those positions you’ll be desperate to fill. Your day is coming.

I came from ECMO and moved to mortgage. Layoffs for processing, underwriting, and credit admin were announced yesterday and SAME afternoon, my boss's boss sent out an email notifying people of openings in escalations. He-l no. This only reinforces that position.

This is a scenario where positions were filled offshore. Top executive level issues and complaints being addressed offshore. It's a way to take highly skilled, educated and also higer paid US based employees for cheaper paid labor. It is difficult to get the best quality support and help to customers in this environment. Those left stateside are super stressed trying to train offshore employees watching volumes and stats tank. Basically means a horrible customer experience coming out of the top executive level of servicing. Then move these skilled employees to entry level positions which could more easily be trained for offshore. Seems like the company is just asking for consent orders and smaller portfolios of customers. However it could also be a way to re-distribute the skill into needed areas of the company, until those areas are right-sized. Hard to know the true reason or intentions but if in the middle of it, sure isn't a good experience. Seems just moving and shifting causes havoc while trying to improve. Just causing what worked well to break again. Likely anyone involved is being told, they just have to make it happen - even senior management.

Workforce share is where they put you before officially giving you notice because the role you were actually hired for is being phased out and there was not enough work. We are losing our jobs it’s best to find something else. NO. We aren’t going back to ECMO but they may pop us around to doing another awful role until we get fired. I don’t care what you’ve been told. The writing is on the wall with this company and it’s falling apart. Can’t build a career this way or even support your families with the looming “lay-offs” coming.

I am one of the employees this happened to. Some of us make double the salary the job description shows. I am grateful to still be WFH and employed, I hate the job but I refuse to leave without my 10 months severance.

OMG, I think I am part of this except I was not told it was Workforce Share. I was told I would be moved back to ECMO in a few months. I have been assured this is the case as far as anyone in management knows. Are people apart of Workforce Share officially informed? I am nervous as I can't afford to be unemployed.

It all seemed so strange to be moved from my job to a completely different department to do work that I am overqualified for. I know something is not right. The department I was moved to seems to be a disaster and those employees are very unhappy and looking to leave. I feel too old to be in the job search.

Ih my goodness, what is Wells up to now?

Many of the highly skilled top talent hired for ECMO didn’t come from a stupid life sucking phone Bank job. You must be talking about the lazy ones who didn’t work their cases and then the skilled teams had to rush to work them and close them on time! You talking about those lazy entitled mo**ns? Cause yea that happened. Probably some of them got promoted even…we all know how wells is.

What I will never understand is that a lot of the ECMO people started in Phone Bank and once they moved up to ECMO they walked around with such an arrogance.

@fze+1gj86qao - "Material change" has to be pretty drastic to count at Wells. As long as your old job included some small part of what you are now expected to do, HR thinks it's perfectly fine to just "map" you into the new role. That's not a material change, just a new job for you that may or may not ever be fully defined.

Just moving around deck chairs on a sinking ship...

If there is a material change in your job responsibilities then you could be eligible for severance

Call Center positions should be for people who want to do that work, or new hires looking to get in the door. Moving higher talent to lower positions like that in the hopes they will leave is insane - total waste of money and talent.

Pathetic company. Any professionally career minded individual should apply elsewhere asap since Wells brags about their “leadership” talent yet treats the talent beneath them in this manner. You can’t build a career with any company who does this. Candidates be warned!!!

They do this elsewhere in the company too - HR-approved / encouraged “mapping” of people into new roles - demotions, pay cuts, lack of direction and definition from leaders all follows.
