Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

What should I do?.

I feel as if the company is trying to get rid of me. I am the oldest member of my team and the employee with the most experience on my team.
I see that the attitude towards me and my work has shifted negatively lately. My manager just keeps throwing more amounts of work his way, while at the same time I get no acknowledgement for what I do. I don’t even want to mention that all of my opinions get shifted aside, which wasn’t the case before.
I have spoken to a few friends from work and they say that I am being set up to be the prime candidate for a layoffs when the next wave comes. What should I do? Should I confront my manager about this? Should I hit the job market aggressively?

I suggest you get rid of Honeywell and beet them to the punch. I retired at 59 after 34 years

Ride it out, I've done a quarter of a century here myself. You will be fine, don't stress yourself over it.

To the OP:

Hit the job market aggressively. I recently left after many years and it's the best decision I ever made. I'm now at a company that has a healthy culture, great pay and benefits, real innovation, and they don't care that I'm over 40. In fact, they pursued me because I have a lot of experience.

It is just unbelievable how many layoffs HW goes through. It is also unbelievable how insecure that all HW employees are.

I received an offer a couple months ago and I declined it only because of the stories on this website, Glassdoor and conversation with former employees too. I always thought that this website is just hyped more than what the reality is. But, with time, I got to realize that I made the best decision by declining the offer (at least I stayed away from a risky environment). Too bad, as I always wanted to work for a company like HW. I wish HW can fix there system.

Age is not relevant. Cost per hour matters.
Disruptiveness to team matters.
Percentage of bosses goals completed matters.
You need a new job. Declare as a minority in people soft and then start looking.

If you want to retire from HW and not be unfairly pushed out, and you sincerely believe your assessment of the current situation is accurate, go to HR with this info and mention “age discrimination” and EEOC and lawyers . Go on the offensive. They will not fire you. Document everything.

Been there, had it happen. Yep, your "vibes" are at resonance. You'll be put on a PIP next cycle.

For any others who want to know what's best for you, DO NOT mention the number of years you've been with the company, your copious amounts of experience, or make comments like,
"When I started here:

  1. our Department Secretary booked our travel and did our expense reports
  2. we had one computer for our entire group
  3. the company paid 100% of our health insurance
  4. we had Christmas Parties
  5. we celebrated birthdays
  6. managers only had 6 to 9 direct reports
  7. layoffs were few and far in between

all of which highlight your age and tick off your Manager.

if you have that long experience, then why are you posting these simple questions here? Someone what a (long experience) as you said should have answers already by now, and should know more about HON and what to do, or what to expect, than anyone else. I doubt that your story is real. You situation may be legitimate, but I feel that your story all together isn't accurate. Everything you mentioned above is something than 80% of employees feel (most people think they have more work than they could take, nobody listens to them, and think they they will be part of the next layoffs waive).

HW targets people over 50. Your medical costs are high. Your salary cost is high. Your willingness to work 80hrs a week is low. You have a big red target on you.

If you like or want to keep your job, talk to the manager. Otherwise, find something else if you are miserable.

If you are a graybeard, then most likely it is a setup. Hit the job market if you can…
