The ideas of Offshoring, Outsourcing, and Just-In-Time manufacturing have all been proven to be short sighted and harmful to the economy.
Companies adhering to all three of those strategies are not resiliant, and all three of those ideas lead to layoffs.

Most companies found out that offshoring and outsourcing was more trouble than it was worth back in the 90's.

It’s really important to remember that it’s not really about blue vs red or woke vs conservative it’s Big Money/Corporations against the rest of us. Once we collectively realize this we can work together on the things that would benefit the public broadly.
Corporations should be taxed more on jobs leaving the USA and get tax breaks on jobs brought back or created in the USA.
A lot of fraudulent calls come from India so that’s going to work out great for Wells Fargo.
It disappoints me greatly that we’ve lost our focus on the customer. Our state side teams service many stateside customers that just happen to be our grandparents, parents, siblings, neighbors, friends, and local businesses. It’s hard for me to believe that off shore will care for our customers like stateside employees with a closer vested interest. Remember we are not just talking about our funds, but also the funds of your family that may someday need protection.
One problem with offshoring is that someone gets hired m, goes through the training, and leaves a year later for a bank up the street. Employees stateside are constantly having to train new hires, and the cycle keeps repeating.
One reason offshoring is a poor business decision here is that there's no continuity by the stateside business group to ever realize what was quantified in the business case. While the offshore org is forming, hiring, training and deploying, the group that spelled out the need for them has long since collected their accolades and moved on. Same with many of those that followed them. So the offshore team is finally ready to roll, and the ones ready to crystallize their value is ...gone. You're welcome shareholders.

@fai+1gjzSk3g While I agree with most of what you wrote, it isn't always cheaper or better to offshore work. There's an inherent amount of efficiency that's lost with time differences, cultural differences, infrastructure, etc. etc. In some cases it takes more people offshore to do the work of people on shore.
Here’s a clue for everyone.
Corporations work for shareholders. Not customers. Not employees. Shareholders. Thus providing shareholder value is paramount. Off shoring has value for shareholders. Period. The train on this left the station a long time ago, so perhaps it’s time to give this a rest. I’m sure you have a number of others things where you can complain and beat your chest claiming victimhood.

Funny how there aren't any CEOs offshore who would work for 1/4th the pay. We wouldn't even need a team of people onshore to manage them like we need for peons.
I think RTO is a bigger blunder.
I think change will come from the woke mob - the same group the Bank has recently embraced. Someone is going to figure out that moving jobs overseas for cheap labor is essentially modern day colonialism. There's a racial aspect to it as well. The mob will demand that our darker-skinner brothers overseas get paid the same as Americans. Then, the party will be over.
Offshoring is a 10-15 year old practice that doesn’t work.
If you’re scrimping instead of investing, we know that a company is dying.
Thankfully the pandemic has forced a rethink of globalization with the fragility of supply lines. It'll only take the bank a few decades to fully come around.
