Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Golden years

I try not to think too much about how it used to be here because I know it will never be like that again, but rather I make every effort to find something better. Still, it’s impossible not to get a little nostalgic sometimes. What were the golden years for you here?

Before the Allied Signal days.

Any time management sends out an email stating that you have just been consumed, but because you have a better stage presence, we will be taking your name!

The sign says Honeywell, but it isn't Honeywell.

Honeywell Aero started downhill when the failed GE merger in 2000 purged management of thought leaders, and replaced them with bean counters that could only see to the end of the next quarter. The Allied purchase was the death knell, since "Honeywell" has become a succubus, staying alive by acquiring companies and sucking the life out of them, only to leave an empty shell.

I remember 100% tuition reimbursement for just about any class with a B or better. Then it became with "manager approval". Similar timeline. I guess "manager approval" created too much friction so they 9 Blocked it. Comrade, your tuition reimbursement was decided by "scientific management approved processes". "Focus on the process, not the individual!".

AiResearch before Allied Chemical got involved was great - Cliff would have been proud. Was still decent until the GE refugees started running the place. That was the beginning of the end for sure.

The time employees were still treated with respect and dignity. In terms of compensation, benefits, travel policies (business class, 5 star hotels) and most important we were still proud of that Honeywell brand. Nowadays it is just a shareholder first mentality.

Before: Leaders that was respected and was sincere at getting things done.
