Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

$699 million net income in Q1

700,000,000 (profit) /50,000 (employees)=$14,000 per employee profit in one quarter. Multiple that by 4 and just ugh.

All of 2021 I worked weekends more than a handful of times, I did on call support every month, I completed every assignment asked of me and more. All I got was a 2k raise for the entire year. Where does all profit go??

No wonder everyone else around me is leaving. I am truly an id--t for not even trying to leave yet.

It is not the earnings per employee but the earnings per share that is a key metric. On the other hand, a valuable metric is to take our total staffing expense divided by the number of employees.

In 2019 I've worked several extra weekends and all I've gotten were two extra off-the-book days off for Q4 and about 200 dollars worth of wow points for gift cards.

And worse, my year-end bonus/raise was still the same as the years before it. Refused to do any extra work ever since.

Bold initiatives to create value for clients and our commitment towards high performance culture. I guess what they refer to high performance is losing your sanity and giving up your weekends, work for longer hours so that the shareholders can earn more. How much they earn there is no limit. This is turning into some kind of Pyramid ponzi scheme where the upwards in hierarchy gets the butter and cream no matter the workers at the bottom of food chain getting crushed.

Where does all of the profit go? Dividends to shareholders and badly targeted investments for growth. It’s meaningless to divide profit by employees… you need to divide by all expenses.

The Bank is on a slim margin, stock going sidewise for nearly 3 decades. If you really think that the owners have some really sweet deal you can join the in club and acquire the Bank’s stock every payday in a 401K match.
