Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Life Insurance (after retire)

Does anyone know how the life insurance works once you retire? My understanding is for the supplemental life insurance once you turn 65 it is no longer good but basic life insurance will continue until death. For example say I am retired and die when im 75 I still get the basic life insurance from AT&T for whatever the amount is 15 or 25k cant recall. Or does the basic life insurance stop once im 65 and have to get it from outside the company and pay monthly. anyone know?

“which is a joke for giving the company 30 years of dedication!”

The likely update needed is “…for working for the company 30 years.”

If you want to find the right answer your situation you need to call the benefit center. Call more than once and compare answers and when they vary put them on the spot and tell them you need it in writing from their management

Depends if you are union or management. And it used to be that after you retire the benefit is reduced each year until it reaches the max and then it’s gone, but I think that changed in the past year or two and now you get nothing when you retire,, check HROnestop

Depending on eligibility, the company paid death benefit will begin to decrease in value at age 65 until it reaches half. You can purchase supplemental, as long as you keep paying.
Refer to SPD, of the program for details.
