Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Just collecting the paychecks

I stopped caring about Cisco when I realized that even those at the top don’t care much about the company’s future (or so it seems). I stayed here for a while after that, just collecting paychecks and working minimally, but now I plan to give notice because working like that leads to nowhere. It's very hard to believe that Cisco doesn't see that most disappointed employees here are doing exactly that - just milking the cow as a result of mismanagement. Are they even aware of it?

"I understand your situation. But there are many people who are on the front lines with customers everyday trying to make our solutions work in our customers complex environments. Cant you find something to motivate you to help those of us dealing with the stress of customers, account teams, and managers/directors?"

My team works at most 10 hours/week. My Director sidelined me after I helped a team in Services with my extra time. Helping other orgs is career su----e at Cisco.

Don't be naive. Too many VPs and Directors are fighting over budget and power, no one wants their employees to help a competing org.

You shouldn't be proud of not working and collecting a check. You should be proud about the contribution you are making to the people next to you and to customers. If you can't do that then yes please leave and siphon off some other company.

Just because you are "getting away with it" doesn't mean its right.

It should be obvious to anybody with a modicum of intelligence that pretty much the entire company is phoning it in at this point. Never mind phoning it in, people can barely be bothered to telegraph it in.

This is why I have to chuckle at all the anger being spewed on this website from people clearly on their way to early graves. If you are emotionally invested in Cisco YOU ARE A MARK. If you work hard at Cisco YOU ARE A MARK. If you virtue signal on this website about how you work hard YOU ARE A MARK.

There was a post here recently questioning if Cisco surveys are truly anonymous. I would always give praise and high marks across the board. With the minimal amount of work and time I put in my hourly rate was about $1000 per hour. What's to complain about?

I still miss Cisco dearly and genuinely wanted to be a lifer. Getting paid to show up for half a day with the bonus of having a front row seat to the shenanigans that take place in this clown car of a company...that is a gig I'll never be able to get again.

After most of the buildings in my campus closed down, I pretend to care in my group meetings. I am the only one from my group at this site, my manager and team do not know what I am doing most of the time. I try not to work over three hours a day.

I think 2/3 of the company including all the ELT is just along for the ride at this point.

Many people do just that. Management is aware. I was middle management and my superiors did this. Same with individual contributors. Many people are afraid to leave, because they fear being held accountable. Many people complain about Cisco pay, but please remember that it’s quite good if you put in minimal effort and make no difference.

On the flip side this should not appeal to younger people that need to keep pace with industry trends, technology and personal development. I left for this reason just recently.
