Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Help the ID10T find its way

I started at WF a few years back and since then my hiring manager has been replaced, my serior Architect left, and got replaced by a buddy of the new manager. It kinda hurts cause I spent the last years working up to the position and I didnt even get the chance of interviewing the position. My manager has specified how they would open the position up later but its been a half a year and I havent heard anything. Meanwhile a new position got created and this friend was hired.

I dont want to create an HR issue but this hurt my feelings. Should I just continue working for WF? I feel like quitting and going somewhere where my skillset is cared for like it once was in WF. I miss my old manager and systems architect.

Sorry for the rant... I just f-ing hate re orgs to the core of my being!!!

@1udc, maybe you get new managers placed above us because they're better at writing meaningful sentences.

My own three years have gone like this . Despite being highly qualified, and hear this - being a diverse candidate, I get new managers ‘placed’ above us. Unqualified or under qualified , it mainly a case of who they know , not what they do. A few years from now, I foresee Wells paying a giant $500 Million fine and reparations to eligible candidates who were disadvantaged by willful discrimination.

Used to be more of a meritocracy, now idocracy. I say get out now before it gets even worse.

Two words - Internal Placement.

Happens way too much in the company and allows the hiring manager to essentially just pick whoever they want for a position, no interview, nothing, just here’s your new position and a nice raise.

This is the way.

Our hiring process is notoriously unfair.

Do yourself a favor and start looking externally. It isn't going to get any better here. In fact, it's likely to get a whole lot worse.

@OP+1gmF4Yfy I feel you!!
Not all, but A LOT of mgrs are slippery--there's definitely favoritism. HR will point the finger at mgr and mgr will point back at HR--which means no one will tell you the truth. This process has become the norm now at WF.
Venting feels good, but you'll need to decide if you stay or go.

If the new manager followed the due process in hiring then you do not have a case

Seriously?
What makes you think you have an HR issue? Because your feelings were hurt? Your old manager left, then the new manager hired who they wanted. Thats the way it goes. End of story.
You already answered your question on leaving or staying.

Wells Fargo is a Who You Know company and not What You Know company. Just su-ks, but is reality. All the replacements in my area were Indian hired by an Indian. Guess HR is ok with this. Hand writing is on the wall.
