Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Admin expectations

I'm hearing that it's illegal to have hourly admins work over eight hours a day? Is that true? I know I'm expected to work until about 10pm and start at around 7am. Is that normal? I'm new to Nike. Did I make a mistake on taking this job?

when i was an ETW i would do 50-60 hours a week and work on weekends, holidays etc but got paid overtime so it was worth it. once i became ftw there was no point to keep doing that as they don't pay overtime, though you should try to negotiate that with your manager.

LOL! Beautifully done OP. Almost artful trolling! Let me make a few editing suggestions:

“Hi! I’m a new employee and don’t know anything. I am being forced to work 104 hours per week, my manager makes me sleep with him and his wife, and I’m only allowed to eat 212 calories per day. Is that normal here? Did I make a mistake accepting this job? Remember I’m new and don’t know anything. This post is totes real!”

LOL.

I don't think the OP is a troll. When I first started as an admin at Nike, I worked six days a week and easily those hours if not more. My Org was brand new and I was the only Admin, so I didn't have much of a choice. However, I reported all the hours I worked and was paid overtime. This is about setting boundaries and having a conversation with your Manager. If you need help, you have to ask for it.

The hours the OP is referencing isn't anything new and very common in certain biz units, just maybe new for the OP. The choice is yours on whether to stay or not.

Sorry but I’m going to call “BS” on the OP. Smells like a troll post to me.

Wait, what? I would report this manager immediately. That’s not normal and not okay.

I don’t think it’s illegal to work over 8 hours, as long as you’re marking it as overtime and being properly compensated. That being said, 7am-10pm expectations are not normal at all. You should level set with your manager/leader and setup some boundaries. If you start you’re day at 7am then your schedule should technically end by 3:30/4.
