Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

First day RTO

We went back this week in London. Everyone looked miserable. There was not even a sanitiser put at our desks. The D&I head sneaked into his office without anyone noticing. Some teams are asked to come all 5 days a week. Everyone is hoping that the survey might bring the much needed hybrid work culture. The morale seems very low as people were conducting work mostly on the phones and they don't understand the need to RTO. Hope something changes positively

People are so entitled. We all love working from home but we were home because of Covid. If you don’t like it find another job. Your are responsible for where you work. I’m not a BOA cheerleader by any means but you each of us make a choice to work here. If your not happy find something that makes you happy.

To the poster asking what people complained about before the lockdown… I think it was the same thing. Right before COVID hit, they were in the later stages of eliminating the MyWork program and bringing everyone back into the office. Maybe it wasn’t referred to as RTO back in 2019 but I do remember it was a big complaint before the lockdown. I think. I could be wrong. It was so long ago!

RTO is 100% about management's control over employees. It has nothing to do with teamwork. The bank spies on its employees, and keeps them highly regulated. They track your physical movements through the office building with a pass card, record phone conversations, and capture computer screen shots. Security cameras are everywhere. It is totally Orwellian. They can't control you if you work from home. Naturally, oversight is warranted because it's a bank and there are always security concerns, but this bank takes it to a whole new level of control, control, control.

I’d say the vast majority don’t want to RTO. Everyone I speak to is miserable, having to pay expensive parking and gas and lunches, not to mention other costs that accumulate when you have to commute daily.

P.S. it’s so amusing to me the people that check this site everyday, a site that’s created for people to anonymously complain, to suck up to BofA and bash other workers.

What did you people complain about before the lockdown?

Not everyone hates RTO. I’d say time to find a new job if you’re really that miserable.

I wonder what happens if most people decide to continue working for home. Would they terminate everyone? We already know there’s a shortage in the labor market and this bank is losing a lot of skill set and replacing them with zero skillset.

I suppose no one wants to be defiant. Either way I don’t believe just because some of these organizations are pushing RTO it will stop the mass migration from seeking remote opportunities. I think what will eventually happen is places like these will not be able to compete because they would have lost all their skilled workers to companies who are willing to change with the times. I suppose the idea is to go back for now and keep posting until you find that opportunity that allows you remote. Morale will be low for awhile. I don’t see it changing because people will be miserable in the office. No amount of free lunch will change any of it.
