Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Sound Familiar? ExxonMobil did/does this in Houston

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/jpmorgan-employees-describe-fear-god-222819365.html

Read this…ExxonMobil was doing this within the last year and likely still reporting it. Don’t let them kid you - had a director tell me to make sure my team was coming in because of this.

Bloomberg? Reuters? Should definitely look into this!

Not just badge readers. I had a boss that had the admin check every morning to see if certain colleagues made it in to work pre-pandemic. They were RE and low ranked. Seemed like looking for reason to PIP.

My boss actually told me last year that one of the conditions of me passing my PIP was to be in the office every day. My “effectiveness” was tied to my physical presence. He told me this over Zoom while he was working remotely himself from his second home in N. C. or was it Miami that time, I don’t remember. All our managers are liars and hypocrites-get out while you can.

@1ynu That’s not what the data says. It’s also not as though offices were humming hives of productivity and collaboration pre-pandemic either. Forwarding emails, scrolling Facebook, two-hour lunches, and leaving at 2pm to “pick up the kids” was all par for the course.

What was lost in WFH were the minor perks enjoyed by prickish middle-management types. Ergo, they forced everyone back to the office.

Management isn’t fooling anyone. And yes, everyone in every company everywhere is looking for a new job.

If you don’t think this happens or is true, you are sadly mistaken. To see, why don’t you try it for a bit and see what happens to you

Probably been doing this ever since badge readers were installed. It’s all about control and dominance with these old school regressive companies.

This is horsesh1t. EM has been tracking whereabouts for eons. Just get your supervisor's written permission for a WFH or flex schedule and you're covered. Otherwise, get to your work station.

How do they abuse it?

That’s because a majority of people will take advantage of the flexibility and abuse it. We saw this during and in the pandemic decline. It’s the peoples action’s that force this oversight.

And where was everyone’s office located before pandemic?

This whole work from home thing is ridiculous. I get - it’s nice not to commute but for all the bu-----t these companies do wrong, wanting people in the office is not one of them.

They’ve done badge reports for a long time.

In Baytown, managers have to reconcile badge reports as well.
