Yes. It’s stupid. Let’s go back to oil industry in early days - I’m sure all you whinging tough guys, driving your $60k+ F150s to campus in your $100+ shirts would do really well covered in oil, missing limbs, enjoying cancer while the bosses and executive laugh all the way to bank, even more so than the sc-m do already.
You really think the bosses give a sh-t about SHE etc? They hate it. And why do they hate it? Because it costs them money. Without this useless SHE they would simply treat you and I even more like cattle. Look how Chinese companies treat their people in China, or Russian in Russia or the mines in S America etc.
I bring my own PPE for my role with the company.
I get to deduct some of it at tax time, too.
And I get to live a little longer with full cognitive capabilities.

Of course but ask yourself why do other companies consistently turn larger profits with smaller capex expenditures each and every quarter and year? The simple answer is time and money spent doing things that aren’t required by any federal, state or local agency just so we can put a bulletin out that says we are doing it so much safer and cleaner then everyone and middle managers have something to fluff up there EADS when in actuality we are just wasting time and money. I dare you to go work at any other O&G top 5 and you would be amazed and how much money and time is wasted here in the name of “safety and environmental” the vast majority of any Exxon employee would be let go if it were to happen anywhere else.

All I know is I’m glad my group isn’t in the same ranking group as SSHE.
SSHE is full of non-thinking robots afraid to make practical decisions, and hide behind biased beurocratic Risk Assessments.
I thought global security’s purpose was to keep the hush hush on the activities of senior execs at the ranch.
Safety and Health are overrated enough. Forget the Environment (we always have).
And Security?
They prevent my right to pocket carry - even trunk carry.
