If we are not a WFH company why are medical accommodations being honored for some employees to continue working from home?

Re the comment here about why some people with medical and or functional disabilities are "allowed" to work from home?
I am going to guess the writer of this comment is young & healthy and has not had much exposure to people with disabilities.
There are hundreds of conditions which are bona fide where work from home is part of their accommodation. These accommodations are mandatory in Canada with our Human Rights laws as well as AODA and the Canadian with Disabilities Act.
So RTO is not a one size fits all directive.
One day when you have a temporary or complete disability you will appreciate the fact that BOFA has both accommodation and accessibility program in place.
After all, as my disabled friend says "you are all temporarily abled".

Medical accommodations have been around. BUT there are too many people that DO take advantage of it so they DONT have to do their job like their peers

I've had a medical accommodation since before the pandemic, and HR was actually really great about it. I was shocked and really pleased because the issue I cope with is real and painful and lowers my quality of life. That said, I outproduce my teammates consistently and volunteer for new assignments. Medical accommodations have existed for years for the unlucky folks who need them to work. Please don't look at us as anything other than hard-working teammates who contribute on a daily basis.

Regarding FL and TX, they seem to want to leave the Union, at least the laws that assure equal treatment of people other than hetero white males. If you need an accommodation in a few years, you might find less stress elsewhere.

Just because you never heard of it doesn't mean it never existed. I've had a medical accommodation to WFH for over 10 years due to immunity issues. Stop stating your own limited knowledge as fact.

[Option 1] I can have my seizures at home where my family is always available and know how to properly care for me during and after the seizure.

[Option2] If I have to go back to the office then the OP gets to deal with me hitting the floor, pi----g my pants, and forgetting my name for a while.

You can't be serious.. WFH due medical issues was and has been for 20-30 years. Yes, it is "the law" and enforced by the ADA.

Everyone is so stressed in this thread.
Well, time to unionize!
Many other large scale company’s doing this.
Let’s use this forum as a tool to get the ball rolling at least.
Hopefully BofA will roll out hybrid or even perm WFH if they realize a union could apply the right pressure.
Right now they are under a huge audit for fees and unfair practices , SIAI up the wazoo is what they are already trying to over come.
Imagine a union added to that. .
To shut us all up they may allow work from home.

Woah! Relax! Y’all are so angry in here. You don’t know my medical history to say I don’t have one! In my line of business I’ve never heard of such thing and didn’t know. I’ve been with this bank for 10+ years. If it’s something covered under the disability act then that’s great! No hate here! My goodness, you all have a nice weekend.

This poster is missing the point. And so are you.
There were most certainly always medical accommodations and always will be. Disabilities covered by the ADA have been around well before the pandemic. The company must provide reasonable accommodations for documented disabilities.

Is this a serious question? Disabilities are covered by the ADA and it's the law to accommodate them.
You are taking up an issue with the wrong people. Take up the issue with the COMPANY. Not every day working people who have legit medical reasons to work form home.
Them having medical issues has nothing to do with you. Be happy you don't need a medical accommodation. Your post is absolutely ridiculous and disgusting.
Take your issue up with the bank for not having flexibility.

See, this is where I draw the line. This argument is stupid. You hold the fact that some people are getting to stay at home rather than commute against those people rather than against the company. All your complaining will do about those people is get their situations scrutinized more, with some of them losing their privilege, all because you feel that its unfair to you.

LET THEM WORK FROM HOME. BE UPSET AT THE COMPANY. WE, THE WORKERS, ARE ALL ON ONE TEAM. STOP BACKSTABBING YOUR TEAMMATES.
