Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Many Wells Fargo layoffs and attendance tracking

Heard through official channels that they will begin running reports and tracking 3 day per week attendance requirement.

On an unrelated note- Hundreds were laid off yesterday with job title being removed from the org as the excuse.

I go in two days a week and on a floor of 100 there are barely 10 of us. Cannot fathom they will fire hoards of people.

Joined another company that has software engineers do all the testing. It's really hard to develop new features and be responsible for all the quality assurance at the same time. Much buggier software and slower development. Customers end up finding the bugs instead of QA.

Not sure which group would be next. Last month (end of 1st quarter) was definitely QA. I heard next round or some point this year will be coming from the business side.

Honestly if the leaders think the organization could operate with a skeleton business crew and a bunch of overpaid new hire software engineers (they are now responsible for testing too, not just coding) to get the job then good luck. They are going to miss so many edge cases as their expertise is not testing.

I know of many old timers (with all the business knowledge) were displaced or the good ones left due to their direction not being clear or realistic.

I personally resigned 3 months ago and that was the happiest thing I ever did for myself. Don’t wait for a package and they’re so cheap now that your 401k match is only vested if you complete the entire work year.

The tech architects I worked with who quit all went to fully remote. The recruiters I am speaking to all said any kind of RTO requirement like ours is the exception, not the norm. The jobs I am interviewing for are also all remote.

I don't know what management is thinking. I suspect there are actually tons of people in various stages of the interviewing process, and we will see an uptick in quitting. Why stay? It just does not make sense with enforcement imminent.

And don't believe management when they claim employees are retiring. I know of two instances where they quit and management tried to cover it up. Saul did take it head on at the town hall and admitted attrition is a real problem. I don't think he realizes how bad it is because he does not know who is interviewing (everyone?). Maybe he is like Putin and his generals are lying to him.

I'm in tech in an Agile team. The guidance they gave us was "get with your scrum team and determine how often you want to come in for ceremonies". Since we are mostly spread out we agreed twice a month for our 3-hour sprint planning meetings. We still have people come into their closest office on these days, alone, and video conference with the few of us in one place. Now we're hearing "people aren't coming in" and we're all thinking "well yeah, what did you expect based on the direction you gave us?".

What's interesting to me is that I have heard they are tracking how many people are coming in at least 3 days a week, even though my department says we only have to come in 50% of the time.

If you are a qualified professional, I suggest getting the resume out there. Most hires take 6 to 10 weeks from initial interview to first day on the job.

in the next few weeks, if you don't have an approved accomodation request where WFH was the accomodation, a pending accomodations request, remote exception, or weren't on some form of PTO you'll be hearing from your manager and given a chance to either come into the office 3 days per week or you'll be let go

That isn't what Saul stated in his AMA.
