Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Everyone wants to leave

No or low bonus
Low base increase
Poorly managed return to work strategy
Increasing expectations and less resources

My whole team is looking for the exit. Is it just my org or every where?

@2afr, risky indeed. Not sure if would do that because of the risk. On the other hand, if the person had enough and got to the point where his health and mental state is bad, then that is a bigger risk than finding a job. The job market right now is red hot.

I recently left and it was the best decision for me. My stress level went down to near zero. Oh, yes, fully remote, better pay, better bonus, huge sign on bonus, etc. Very happy

A co-worker of mine just quit without a job lined up. That tactic scares the cr-p out of me. Maybe I’m just too old school. Is anyone else seeing this? This guy has a wife and kids. Way too risky for me.

Many have already left. Good for them.

Sorry to say but I believe increased turnover is the operating plan moving forward. We already know JD has gone on record that his management philosophy is to turnover a pretty big chunk of the workforce on an annual basis. This is not uncommon in most contemporary, mercenary, profit driven companies...Nike was just a bit of a holdout in the shift until enough of the previous senior leaders finally left or were pushed out. I would not be surprised if they've set an ideal workforce turnover rate and are probably pretty happy to hear that lots of people are leaving -helps them meet their target numbers. For those in the higher ranks, I would assume the mentality is that anyone who's been at Nike more than 5 years is a liability. Longevity and sustainability of individual careers equals more expense to the short term bottom line so whatever they can do get people to leave on their own and not collect severance or unemployment is simply good financial sense for the stock value. Nike is now full on chasing the shiny new external employee as the future path to more profit while anyone with tenure is considered a log on that path that needs to be cleared away. The reality is our leadership wants Nike culture to transform into a different kind of company than it was before so anyone who was part of that previous culture is now a liability rather than an asset.

There was a note that someone in our group's leadership left in a public room that talked about how promotions or open roles being filled by existing Nike people was a major weakness. With that kind of mindset it's kind of hard to stay in a team that doesn't value our career growth!
