Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

from the desk of JS --4/22 AM

"...we must drive to a structure and overheads that are consistent with this reality and allow us to navigate in a more agile fashion – and that means some hard trade-offs. The news we are sharing today and over the next couple of weeks should begin to provide clarity..."

Whatever could he mean?? "Hard trade-offs"....LOL. Trade- off rhymes with layoff you know.

Here we go again.

Now that we are a smaller company, we can adjust the business quicker. Got rid of Warner. Get rid of unneeded workers and focus on the workers doing work that brings in revenue.

The new 'leadership' (musical chairs is a better description) needs to be held accountable. Don't perform and you are out and not shuffled to Mexico only to come back. No more games and no more talking heads.

RE request to post John's email... If you are an employee you received the email - company-wide distribution. Would appear your not employed by the Company!

@bdi+1gnycWcE, agile is just a pretax, pretending to aim for higher goals while laying people off. Everyone knows no concrete plan exists, that would require acutal work.

The company is a smaller version of itself and can't bare the same cost structure, not that it could before. So some old timer executives will retire, others will "decide" to leave the company, musical chairs and org consolidations. There will be layoffs at the working level, details will come out in drips.

Obviously suggesting a major culling is coming. I'll never understand how reducing the workforce, dumping more work on those that remain...makes us more "agile". We're already facing unprecedented workloads in Mobility with several critical initiatives. You honestly couldn't have picked a worse time over the last 10 years for this. It's not the layoffs per se that ki-l progress, it's more the reorgs. The old "Joe used to do that, who does that now?"...(cue crickets) that goes on for months. Groan.

Translation: we spent the last decade buying a bunch of companies we had no business buying, had to spin off at a massive loss, now after a few token executive cuts, the people that actually do work for this company are about to be butchered with layoffs to pay for the incompetence.
