Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Be careful what you wish for.

Just last week a team mate of mine was laid off. He was a long timer and a good performer. Just a couple of months ago he was given a nice raise and we celebrated.
Once again it has been proven that this company will have no mercy on those who have been here a long time and who have accumulated a large salary, regardless of the results they produce or the knowledge and experience that they hold. It may be sad to say this after everything we gave to this company during the years, but your raise could easily turn out to be your curse.

Why have y’all not realized if you earn a certain amount you are a bullseye to be pip? Especially if you are a white male that is close to retirement eligible? EM will shrink down to a certain number to fit every person they can to the campus. There is a pattern but EM can hide the pattern of the hidden layoff. If your job can be contracted out then EM will do it. Wake up people.

Yeah, this seems off. If this wasnt part of MLRP (which the timing isn't right) or a RIF (none were announced), this must be termination with cause.

Your teammate probably did something quite bad and won't admit it.
EM does NOT do layoffs.

But I'd watch out slipping those Post-It pads in your pocket.
They certainly are.

Layoff or termination of employment?

Termination is grounded on a company policy violation that is well documented. Perhaps your teammate didn't tell you the whole story.
