If anyone wonders why I've stayed so far, I stayed because I really thought a series of mistakes and failures would stop and things would get better. Now that I look back on the last 14 years, it seems to me that top dogs have done everything contrary to what we expected and what we wanted?

It definitely downhill for those working on legacy technology. Time to upgrade your skills.
They dont want you to like your job. They want you gone, this is 2022, 3 years and out!
I hired on with the company in 1999. While I really liked my job for the first 15 years, there was a gradual decline in the company. The last 5 years, the decline was dramatic. Very poor middle and upper management. Too bad, as the company has a lot of potential.
AT&T is lost. To turn it around it will require substantial cuts in employment and increased spending in the network.
- The expansion of SBC was the beginning of the end. They ruined Ameritech by 2005.
Big Ed Whitacre was in 2008 he started the layoff train at SBC well before taking over Ameritech, Bell South, Pac Bell

Try 2000...SBC came into power and then shortly thereafter became AT&T... some of the biggest losers are employed by AT&T. About as close as you can get to being a government employee without actually being one.
Who was CEO in 2008?
Good salary, good benefits. Going downhill to my bank.
You would have been better off going and starting your own company.
You are just now coming to this conclusion??? How did you think things were going in 2013? And 2017? And 2020?
