Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Do you know anyone who left Wells Fargo in last 12 months?

If yes, what made them leave? What path have they taken?

Left in January, had only worked for WF for 6 months before being told my job was being moved to India in Q3 '22. Luckily my background is in cybersecurity so finding a new job was not an issue. I am glad to say that my tenure was very short and just about every claim of mismanagement and lack of direction regarding WF is spot on. Hope the best for those that haven't left yet, but the ship has sunk and the life boats are taking on water....

Yes me, this month. In tech.

WF doesn't seem to realize that we don't need to stay in the banking industry and it's pretty freaking easy to find remote gigs that pay way more.

I took a PTO cut but I'm making over 50% more than I did at WF and actually learning new things for a change.

I decided to find a new job due to all the reasons listed above. RTO and location strategy were the big ones. I was told that even though I wasn't in a hub location it wouldn't effect my career opportunities for promotions since I was already in the org (LOL). I was also tired of the re-orgs and complete lack of direction. It felt like management completely changed direction every six months. Brand new procedures and tools, well, work-arounds because the tools never really got up and running.

I gave my notice, then a week later I was displaced after 15+ years with the company. So I at least got some severance out of the whole deal.

Yes, me two weeks ago today! Reasons include:

  1. RTO requirements, although I’d been remote for years prior to COVID.
  2. No career progression opportunities
  3. Lack of leadership support and feedback (I created my own goals and did my own evals more than once with no original feedback input from my manager)
  4. Toxic work culture
  5. Lack of decision making ability by leadership and constant flip-flopping
  6. Two significant job mapping changes in less than a year.
  7. Material cut in pay as a result of #6.

I got out without another job lined up and couldn’t be happier! It is such a relief to be out of that awful place!

Four on our team. One RTO, two location strategy/lack of opportunities unless you move to a hub and one was just tired of how things were going. All had new jobs before they left.

Dozens in the last year, 4 that left in the last month, all in tech, all 10+ years. Went to other companies. One of them sent his "last day" email to 300+ people in our overall team, flat out said he's leaving for "lack of opportunities and financial reasons". In my 13+ years, never seen so many leave willingly.

Leaders aiming for ATTRITION are probably hoping employees will read these posts, get some ideas and leave too.

Those formally in my group left due to not feeling protected in our work. They left for better money and opportunities. One was promoted in their new position less than a year after joining their new company. Everyone that has left said they were happy and it was the best decision.

Yes. Several people on teams my team partners with left without new jobs because the place is toxic. Their words, not mine but also don’t totally disagree.

Our long slide started about a year ago with a layoff. Since then one got cloud certified on his own and poached, next left due to lack of training and quit over everything, two retired, two more left for remote work, one went to another division in a different role because he hated it here, and then the latest last week was for remote work.

Left for another opportunity doing productive work for more money working for business people. Many of the managers and "leaders" at WFC are clueless.

I know of 2 people who left recently....both in other LOBs. 1- got new job that's 100% remote along current mgmt. Mgrs did not counter offer--person was underpaid and LOB not willing to promote or increase.. 1-got recruited by their previous mgr at a new company... person rec'd counter offer, but it wasn't about the money as they were paid quite well. It was this insane mgmt!
I've got a handful of years until I retire and plan to hang in unless I simply cannot take it here any longer. I love my job responsibilities, this whole RTO -we're watching you cr*p-- and being treated liked school children is starting to take its toll. Plus my current mgr is an a$$

Me, I got laid off after 31 years with WFC. I got a great package that took me to retirement and now I’m consulting on the side making a ton of money, more then I ever made with WF. Now I’m sitting on a beach in the Dominican sippin on rum, drinking Margaritas.

I do. It's me who left.
I retired after 22 years at wells fargo and at 65 years of age.
I saved a bit of money and moved from the Bay Area to Hilo Hawaii.
Good luck to all :-)
