No Need for Layoffs with ESP

Sounds like ESP numbers are quite disappointing to say the least. I've heard many folks saying this is the final straw.

I think we'll be seeing even higher attrition. A 2% raise just isn't going to cut it for most folks.

A recent survey on why people are quitting their jobs boils down to two word…Employee Recognition!!! There is none in IBM. They will never have the talent to survive long term! GR is still a POS!

I don't think I could work for a company that treats the majority of their workers poorly.

Spoke to an manager today in IBM Consulting -- they had to completely redo their salary program input last week ... AFTER it had already been locked and loaded ... to reduce the amount because of the poor Q1 GP results... 1%-2% is what those that get anything might get...

There has been tons of IBMers leaving for AWS these past few months.

Amazon may pay the AWS folks well, but they pay their warehouse workers cr-p and make them p-e in bottles.

I don't think I could work for a company that treats the majority of their workers poorly.

My manager flat out told me that if I wanted to make more money I should leave IBM.

Will be interesting to see how the GBS contracts handle this. Fixed price contracts where suddenly the labour costs is 10% more when there was only a 3% clause for inflation.

Makes me wonder if this was one of the drivers for GTS split.

IBM doesn't have a choice but to give substantial raises to at least high performers. There has been tons of IBMers leaving for AWS these past few months.

The rises that I've heard about have been pretty good by IBM standards. I think the problem is that lots of people were expecting big (higher than inflation) numbers which was never going to happen for many. I was surprised by how big my rise was, but it was less than inflation. It doesn't make up for the years of low / no rises of course.
