Slow Rolling Customer Issues

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2019 Ford F-Series models over a rearview camera display issue. This is the latest of many camera-related recalls issued by The Blue Oval, including a 2015-2017 Ford Mustang rear camera wiring issue, 2022 Ford Transit rear video camera uplifting and rear camera display problems, 2020-2021 Lincoln Aviator rearview camera faults, and a 2021-2022 Ford Edge rearview camera software issue.

The defect: due to a poor electrical connection, the rearview camera may intermittently display a blank or distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.”

The hazards: a rearview camera that displays a blank or distorted image can reduce the driver’s view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: rearview camera.

Affected vehicles: select 2019 Ford F-150 and Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 vehicles produced between October 22nd, 2019, and November 13th, 2019.

Number of vehicles affected: 21,904

The fix: dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge.

We are so screwed. No way the Lightning launch is successful, and it is really low volume (think: ~20k this year). That launch goes badly and it is game over. The stock price will be < $1.

But we will sell you a camera and subscription service so you “might” get a video of the person who broke into your vehicle, BECAUSE WE SELL YOU LOCKS THAT DON’T WORK AS THEY SHOULD.
