Ways to boost morale

My manager doesn’t even try to boost morale. He is there to lower whatever little morale there is left. I hope there is still some manager here trying to improve employee morale? What methods does your manager use?

Heh, I had to laugh. Way back when I was at IBM my manager would have “special” days after good quarters. He’d dress like Santa and invite us to sit on his lap. Oh we had such fun. I guess things are all different these days.

My manager had a stash of 'gentlemen's magazines' that he would randomly drop into our desk drawers if we hit our targets. Ah, the good old days.

My manager used to gaslight everything that i asked or would say straight out no.
Even when i left they'd give me 2-6% increment when i was getting 2x-3x in the market. My pay was lagging new grads and i was ashamed of even saying it out loud.

Please do yourself a favor, stop working a lot for ibm and prep to leave instead.

Ibm managers are boomers who never worked anywhere else except ibm or those who can't get a job elsewhere and hence take those managerial posts to get a promo.

How can they boost your morale, instead they're actively trying to make you lose your confidence so you don't ask for more pay/benefits.

Sure am glad I left that sh*t-show 10 mos again. I'm sure a major RA is on the horizon after the recession was announced.

Recognition (words are cheap)
Bluepoints are cheaper than words
