Multiple open positions in my area to replace retirements/resignations have been reassigned to India. The writing is in the wall if you are a US based tech employee!

You must not be in tech. It's already 30% India.
Now the rest of WF gets to catch up starting in May.
Can confirm. It's already on Teamworks that they want to move to 30% India and 70% US in Q2, starting with Tech and with other groups to follow.
Same experience here. They also rarely take responsibility for anything themselves (which I guess goes along with taking initiative). I equate it to babysitting tbh.
@vkx+1grYH5z3 - This is my experience too. Very nice people but they only do what you tell them, nothing more, nothing less. Thinking outside the box is incredibly rare. User interfaces are awful to get through even with set style sheets. I've found they will ask questions, but not to the people who should be answering (business partners). They will bug state-side developers for any and all questions/reviews/design patterns. I usually help at first but then cut them off after several weeks.
For years our friends in tech have been telling the rest of us that we'd soon be replaced by AI, or automation, or whatever. That we were dinosaurs that needed to "get current skills". And they did so with an insensitive smugness that no one appreciated. Not that what they were saying wasn't true to a degree, but how the message was conveyed was indicative of their challenges in dealing with human beings. In any event, what they didn't anticipate is that they too were on the chopping block. If a tech guy in the Bay area is going to run you $250k/year, but you can get 3 tech guys in India for $150k, guess what's going to happen? There will be tech jobs in the US for the rest of time, but you guys are on the chopping block just like the rest of us and how current skills are in India will likely be much more important going forward than any other factor.
I tried to apply to get back into to my old department and the only openings were in India. It is gradually hitting more and more areas.
The areas are Technology and Operations. Those are the high and low ends of the job migration to India. Actually there are some really talented software developers offshore, although I personally haven't seen any success whatsoever with filling Ops roles offshore. Culturally they won’t take initiative and are afraid to ask questions so it doesn’t work out very well.
Well hurry up, I am waiting for my layoff. I writes codes
You're just now realizing this? EVERY person in my group who has left over the past couple years has had their position turned into 3 "resources" in India. And now, shockingly, with 3 times the headcount, our product is almost unmanageable and we can't keep up with the workload. Hmmm...
How is this news?
Read what OP is saying. Those leaving the organization will likely be filled by an offshore resource.
Seeing it in Supply Chain...have for awhile, but now more senior roles.
Please prove it
