Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Employers are realizing they need to offer remote work options to attract and keep talent

All but Wells Fargo, apparently.

And this number is already on the rise for 2022. Data scientists from Ladders expect one fourth of all high paying jobs will be available remotely by the end of 2022.

The funny thing is we realize it too. For new people interviewing, one of the carrots they are dangling to get people on board is that they can be 100% remote for 2022 then back to the hybrid model. This was the case for 2 people interviewing for HR roles.

They don’t care. We went from having a best friend at work and the tools to do your job to senior leadership bloviating.

The fact that people want to WFH is exactly why they are limiting it. Attracting talent isn't the goal, reducing headcount is. Always keep that in mind when analyzing what the company is doing. They don't want to retain you, so their behavior makes perfect sense.

There is no way WF can hire engineers if they can't WFH. Ain't gonna happen. Ever.

It’s only a matter of time before employees call their bluff on the three day rule. My guess is maybe it becomes part of the performance review but it way too many people aren’t coming in so it’s not like they can fire them all.

My group has had several people hang up the phone during an interview when they found out the position wasn't 100% remote.

The point wasn't about data scientists it was about Ladders which as I understand it, is a recruiting firm and has nothing do do with WF. I still think the post is useless but whatever.

Great article with some real groundbreaking stats. This one leapt off the page to me:

“ A whopping 97% said they would recommend remote work to others, and 90% said they would describe their experience with remote work as very positive or somewhat positive.”

@sso+1gsNuJBZ The people who do run banks are becoming more reliant on data scientists for decision making. Stay in your lane, ignorance is bliss.

Alas, data scientists from ladders ( whatever that means) don't run banks. Stupid post of the day.
