Medical Accommodation when accepting new role

Can Anyone share their recent experience on accepting a new role within Wells Fargo while having an existing Medical accommodation in place? In my current role I have a medical accommodation to WFH FT. Accommodations management said that if you accept a new role, you need to put in a new request and get it approved and evaluated all over again even if it's just a few months apart. Just curious what others experiences have been with that process, as long as your new manager supported you, did you have any issues getting the same accommodation fairly quickly and was the process the same as a net new request?

medical accommodation is not the same thing as a prior WFH arrangement. The announcement about WFH agreements being void was about the latter - which were at manager's discretion and did not require a medical accommodation.

the way a medical accommodation works is this: you apply via teamworks. the reason for the accommodation is confidential from the manager. you'll be asked to provide documentation about the reason (usually involving a dr note of some kind) and then if that lines up, the manager is asked if there is any reason the job can't be done effectively with the proposed accommodation. If the manager says that the job can be done with the proposed accommodation then it is granted. so for the OP, if you apply for a different job, the manager would also have to agree that the new job could be effectively performed with the accommodation.

all accommodations are time-bound and reevaluated every 6 months to 1 yr.

My doc had to fill out 10 pages of info and they approved me in feb this year to expire in August. My guess is that in my area at least they are going to end wfh after summer for everyone, Chuck does not care but the guy that decides for us is an even bigger jerk. He takes great pleasure in causing us grief. They made everybody come to the office during a blizzard rather than let them work from home one extra day. Jerks.

I hope you get an answer. I’m in the same boat. Mine was just approved a month ago and I’m in the process of applying for another team so I am unsure what steps to take in this process..

Accommodations aren't managed well by the company and puts a huge onus on the individual (beyond what is necessary - for instance, yearly applications for necessary lifetime accommodations). My managers are incredible and would do anything they could to support, but it's entirely out of their hands. For all the talk about diversity, equity, and inclusion, the company does not support employees with disabilities in their actions. It's a big factor in my choosing to look for employment elsewhere. Best of luck to you!

I was WFH before covid and then my telecommute agreement was canceled. I have severe asthma and have an approved WFH medical accommodation until 2023.

Nothing new here. This is common in all companies.

From what I've heard and read on this site, any previous approved accommodations have all been voided. They were mostly wfh--not sure about medical-- WF has definitely taken their stance. What if a team member is in a wheelchair? Doors to suites and restrooms do not have automatic open buttons.
I wish you the best of luck--keep us posted.

I was hired last spring. I disclosed I was disabled and needed WFH due to ADA accommodations (I've worked from home over a decade). When the new RTO policy rolled out, I was told that agreement would not be honored and I had to apply again. I did apply. It took over 2 months to just get the first response. Getting my information from my provider to WF was a huge hassle. I was told I will need to do this every year.

I am currently WFH but am looking for another role that better suits my needs.
