Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Messed up hours

I don't know if this is just a problem for my team or a Dell problem, but expectations here are objectively unrealistic. We are expected to work long hours, to work weekends, to work holidays, and all that to finish in a few weeks something that requires at least double that to finish. I am paid well, but I'm not paid THAT well. I keep thinking this is just temporary, but the temporary has been going on for over a year. This is inhumane.

You'll go speak to your mgr or your higher up. Something is wrong in your org.

This was my life 2 years ago. I saw people around me burn out. Some of them even died from stress induced heart attacks and strokes. It not worth it. Find something better. You can do it.

Simple answer to all that overtime where you are paid a salary. Say NO!

If you get overtime pay you can still say NO! Your not a slave , so don't act like one

It doesn't sound like they want the poster to work just 40 hours or else they wouldn't be working long hours, weekends, etc. Sounds to me like someone made a promise to someone else that they could do a project in an unrealistic timeframe. Usually a manager trying to be a hero and satisfy their supervisor and putting the load on their employees or it's a promise to a high paying customer where someone makes alot of money at the expense of others. That used to be the EMC sales team promising stuff to customers without knowing if it could be actually be done in the desired timeframe but since there was alot of money involved, the management team has to make it happen somehow.

They’re doing that in in field customer service. Those type employees get overtime so they pressure them to reschedule work week to only 40 hr work week so they have them reschedule there work week by taking days off to save paying overtime. Managers are goal by upper management to keep OT at only 5% or there repercussions on those managers.

When they have no experienced people to do the work guess they will continue to drive employees into the ground with their moonshot expectations.
