Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

XOM is painfully dysfunctional

How anything gets done with the way things are set up is beyond me. There are several layers of management that are completely unnecessary but are trying hard to make themselves seem relevant by getting involved in things they know nothing about. Just leave it alone and let us do our jobs! I swear, working here is sometimes infuriating.

Some of us here are retired now and don’t know what the gazillionth EM acronym means. And before anyone goes off, I ck this site about every 6 months to see how things are going. I spent more than half my life there.

You are so right. EMTEC has just started and if you look at the org chart you see a lot of managers and advisors that are just plain useless. A lot of fat there that shoud be NSIed.

Trust. That’s it… management and people crawling up the slippery pole are untrustworthy - in general.

There is no honesty, integrity or genuine leadership. There are exceptions but I’d go as far as 80% are selfish, untrustworthy and superficial.

I have learned that survival is all about finding those you can trust and sticking close. Every new encounter has to be dealt with as if they are rotten. Usually given enough time and opportunity their snake like ways appear. Then like a shot I distance myself and smile politely while I watch them scuttle along.

Can you share some specifics of the challenges at Bmt o and a ? Is it o or is it a? What levels are challenging? What other sites are seeing this?

Massive gap between supervision and the normal worker, this is a recent development and is deconstructive.

Way too many layers of management at the O&A Chemical plant in Beaumont. We could loss 2 layers and be just fine. Between the layers of management and the made-up positions for people we are way to top heavy. This little plant would function just fine with less Mid management. Come on XOM lets give it a try.
