Any truth to the rumor that the prem techs new scope of work will be to only run drops and setup slack nids and then hand off to contractors that will do all the inside work?

Replacing the brainless Prem Techs with brainless contractors is the future
Mount the slack nid at opposite where RG is going, then leave.
This is being done in large metro areas like LA right now, techs do the dash o and contractors do the inside. It’s not even cost effective as the contractors are rumored to being paid more than prem techs minus benefits etc of course. Sure they can cut them at any time or not renew contracts but this stinks of corporate chronism. I have no doubt the owners of these contract companies are either relatives or friends of someone in the company or the company is using the contractors to double dip into the build back America funds that where set aside to run fiber. Has all the signs of malfeasance. Hope the feds catch it.
comcast contracts out the outside construction for resi and commercial; but internal techs do the inside resi installation, and commercial test and turn up.

That's how it was in the SE before the Wire Techs went union. I would be surprised if it is still that way currently anywhere. Wire Techs make more now so that really wouldn't make sense to lower their responsibilities back to that.
If the idea is to get back where we were at as a “true” telecom connectivity business, then having a contractor who really has no vested interest in our company do that work is NOT the way to get there. Go back to old school telephone men doing quality work with good customer service skills and you may win folks back. But that probably make too much sense for this group of leaders, so never mind.
