Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Can someone help breakdown these salary “ranges?”

Say, Workday job posting shows 90,000-150,000

I’m in market 2. The job posting is available to many markets.

Am I still looking at 80% of the 90,000? Is that considered the “base pay” still?

Help, I am so frustrated.

You have to view the salary range for the area you will be working from. The actual base pay won't be lower than the minimum but don't expect to be paid at the mid-range or higher. The hiring manager still has a budget to consider.

No what I see says this “base pay increase greater than 20% UNLESS the increase brings base pay to within the new range” does it require OC approval

So wouldn’t that mean they can give more than 20% if being hired/promoted?

There are documents in hrss that tell managers (open to all for viewing) what approvals are needed for various actions. Among those are promotions within various pay raise percentages, and just raises over a certain percentage. Normal promotion < 20% at most requires your manager’s manager to approve. Most cases no approval is needed. Even in those cases they will need to justify a promotion.

this group seems to have some insight, so let me ask this--would being promoted to the next level of current job title require approval from somebody on the operating committee? Either my mgr wants to hold me back from being equal to others on my team, or is he lazy? or scared to start the process? Is it too much effort for him? I've mentioned to my mgr but he spews BS at me.....made it sound like it needs Charlie's sign off..... (my sarcasm)
Anybody know how that works?

“Need approval from the operating committee to give internal promotion of 20% or greater”

Yea. Tell us ALL again why Wells Fargo is worth working for, applying for, and wasting our career progression for? I’ll wait.

This just confirms how cr---y Wells is. It also explains why many highly skilled people I know aren’t getting any promotions after doing panel interviews because the raises would have been above 20%. Thanks for explaining and showing how cheap and lazy leadership is.

My understanding is, if a 10% raise for you is above the minimum pay for a job you’re looking at, you should probably expect to get about 10% more than your current salary, even if that means you’re making at or near the listed minimum. If the minimum is >= 20% more than your current play, they probably won’t give you the job, as you need approval from somebody on the operating committee to give an internal promotion 20% raise or greater.

My understanding is there isn’t a 90% or an 80% of mid point any more. And it seems much more common to just bring someone in at the minimum…so in your example, start them at 90k.

From what I can tell the salary ranges listed for the job postings are for the primary location listed. You have to start your own list to keep track of various salaries and titles. Kind of d-mb because over time, you accumulate much of the same info you used to find on job families anyway.

The ranges in job postings are all over the map, even for the same job title in the same location. They're intentionally not being transparent because it's easier to make sure we remain underpaid and unaware.

90 is the min regardless of where you are. The old area is within the range
