I will never make the same mistake again

I just wanted to be a good employee and do the job as best I could. After my colleague left, I accepted to do part of his job. Instead of doing that just temporarily, it's become my daily routine. Afterwards, the more I worked, the more work they had me do. But now I know what mistake not to repeat in the new company. Surely everyone here has made a similar mistake that will be a good lesson in the future?

Once you set a precedent by completing the work, my experience is that they will never hire anybody else no matter how much you complain and how much you can prove you are doing the work of more than one person. It has happened to me multiple times.

Must have been a red badge, that's the game. More 'free time' or study time to the blue badge and shift their work to the red badge "non employee".

Try to slow down lil by lil and your higher ups will get a hint. Then they will add one more body. Otherwise, you will be subsidizing their fat bonus and they will be laughing all the way to bank.
