Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Just in time for summer camp mess

Well, kids are out for 10 weeks of summer break and camps in our area are only offering 4 weeks (9a-3:30p.. super inconvenient for working parents)…. But they can’t offer more because WE’RE STILL DEALING WITH A PANDEMIC. Great timing on the id--tic RTO plans. They don’t care about working mothers and fathers as much as they claim.. and save the “call about their childcare programs” garbage- those are useless. It’s just something they can throw on a list to look good, but the resources don’t even understand how they’re supposed to help you when you call- they can’t magically find childcare or summer camps with availability for those weeks from 8a-6p (or later with my 75 min commute). So frustrating. I won’t eat the cupcakes. I won’t engage.. too damn stressed about my kids being safe.

Again… you and your luxuries! God bless!
Be grateful you dont have to fuss or stress about COVID simply because you’ve declared it’s time to move on- unfortunately that’s not how the world works and just as we don’t get our way when we complain about how our company is handling things, we also don’t get our way when we complain about how summer camps and day care‘s are handling things (which is all they can do with no staff and efforts to keep kids healthy- meanwhile, the bank can allow productive associates WFH as they did just fine for 2 years!)
Some of us don’t have the luxury of declaring an end to our efforts. I don’t get to say enough is enough, because I have to protect my two youngest. For those who live with immunocompromising conditions or care for those who do, there is no saying, “I did my time.”

For those who just want to close their eyes and make it all go away, I know. I do, too. More than anything. But we just can’t all be like “urk” who toots butterflies and sneezes glitter!

This is “urk”..

I’m a big supporter of WFH! I got to WFH about 6 months during the heart of the pandemic, loved every minute of it (I work in retail banking to the user who asked what field, and I’m in the nyc area).

As that the country is still reeling with EFFECTS from Covid, absolutely I agree - and my criticism is towards people who contribute to this and thinks WFH model should be adapted by every company, and not do the jobs they were hired to do. And let’s get real, Covid is a joke. We all had it. It was all a cold. I meet with clients face to face all day for the past 2 years, go on vacations, ride the train, all with no mask. Haven’t gotten Covid since 2019.

I do also understand the issues you are dealing with the childcare system, that is horrible and my criticism is towards them as well. This country needs to get back to normal! We all need to start doing our jobs again. I’m tired of coworkers and customers expecting everything to be handed to them now as all the breaks we got during Covid has definitely affected everyone’s way of thinking. Let’s direct the anger to the childcare and camps who for some reason are implementing these BS rules.

I’m sick of seeing people who have been amazing at their office jobs for years all of a sudden refuse to be in the office and badmouth the company like it’s a crazy thing they have to be there again. I wish everyone the best who have issues finding childcare, I just want this country back to strong working people, no more needy babies.

@urk+1h0NdmxQ - what area are you in that you either a) did nothing yourself during WFH for the past 2 yrs, or b) what LOBs do you personally know of people doing nothing during WFH?

Me and my team worked our a$$es off insane hours all thru WFH -- and continue to do so.

But now it's even worse b/c many teammates have left and manager cannot find people to hire who are willing to RTO.

How about you give us a break...?

@wsg+1h0NdmxQ News flash!
As long as daycares and summer camps are still affected by the pandemic, working parents will continue to have no choice but to acknowledge the impacts…. We don’t all have the luxury of just pretending like something isn’t an issue.

Faux news is lying to ya… research the truth.. COVID isn’t gone buddy!

Hey genius.. I’ve probably been back in office more than you! But now that school is out, it’s an issue because our area doesn’t have workers or even a 10 week summer program STILL! They’re only offering 5 weeks this summer and that doesn’t start for another 3 weeks from now! It’s not my decision.. it’s literally just the circumstances I’m faced with! Must be nice to have the luxury of not being in my position, so how about you not make false ASSumptions that I just don’t want to work!?! Not to mention, some of the camps that would cover the whole summer/full day are $360 A WEEK! Who can even afford that?! In that case maybe you were right.. maybe I don’t want work JUST to afford childcare.

The point is- NOT EVERYTHING IS 100% BACK TO 2019/early 2020 REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD THEY PUSH FOR RTO!

Just goes to show how little work life balance means to them.

At this point, you and countless others just don’t want to work. This whole pandemic, people like you got used to doing the bare minimum and getting away with everything.

I’m a staunch supporter of WFH, fully vaccinated and historically voted democrat; but come on people. We’re at a point where we’re still lying to ourselves that a pandemic is still going on? We demand our employers to let us WFH? For what reason? Let’s start being a country of victors and not victims again.

Work from home, go in one day a week and hire a babysitter that day. They’re not going to fire all of us, they can’t even fill their open reqs

Wait, people still actually are talking about Covid? Get over it! Old old news, we all had it, it was nothing more than a common cold. You got hired to walk in office, go do it or quit. I bet you make your kids wear a mask while they play at the park.

50s here.. I can still be brought with cupcakes and pizza, but maybe for a small 30 minute effort to help another bank employee I like. Not for burning 60 hrs/week for work and getting 0% in Feb.

When I was 20 I could be bought with cupcakes and pizza but not at 50.
