AT&T A Terrible Turmoil

For a company the size of AT&T it is absolutely stunning how poorly it's managed. Stunning. It is clearly reflected in the lackluster value of it's stock. I was a 17 year employee. Had a reputation as a manager for doubling or tripling sales results in most locations I managed. Had great morale and sales results from my employees. Always operated with the highest ethics. Achieved sales results through great customer service garnerning customer referrals and loyalty, promoting my business in the local community, conducting "table days" at large corporations in the area, sponsoring special events, hiring great employees. But as time passed the company developed a culture where employees were somehow seen as the enemy by upper management. The hiring ability was stripped from store managers. Micromanagement top down became an obsession. Conference calls multiple times per day with regional managers were mandatory, often even on one's so called days off. If the sales numbers reported on conference calls were good store managers were berated nonetheless in a mocking fashion. Sometimes conference calls were summoned even on days off with no more than 5 minutes notice. If one were to write a book on how not to run a company AT&T would be perfect. Very destructive, cruel, beligerant environment.

T exists to line the pockets of top executives at the cost of the company’s future if necessary. Products and services are just a smoke screen.

Also, so many poorly performing workers. So many workers and yet so little work gets done.

Boy could I tell stories as to when I was a:
a. Frameman
b. Asst. Staff Supervisor
c. Manager
d. Area Manager
e. District
but this site would delete me. So in honor of your post just let me say that my dad told me to always think the best & if not then just don't say it.

Leadership at T is non-existant. Worst customer service ever, yet Stankey just ignores it. Something has got to change but I doubt it will.
