All this force-fed DE&I is nonsense. People need to be accepted for what they are, and for what talents their "group" brings to the table.

We're all different - embrace it.

Examples: Put 5 black guys against 5 white guys in a game of basketball. Who's going to win? You chose.

Another one: What's the demographic difference between these three places: England, Japan, and Haiti...?

The point is that every group is different, and of course there will be different talents and different challanges for each group. It's called biology.

13 % overall does not mean anything. The problem here is the word “overall”. You need to look at numbers across org levels all the way up to the C-Suite.

Plus there are still many at WFC, some posting on this site, who feel that diverse candidates can never be the most qualified.

Some on here are clearly fearing marginalization for being straight white males. It's not a good feeling, is it?

When you were a little kid, you didn't know anything about DE&I. All you knew was that you had fun playing with all the other little kids.

Fast-forward to adulthood. Now you're catagorized, incentivised, included, excluded, and marginalized. In the workforce. In the media. In the schools. All in the name of DE&I.

DE&I is counter-productive. It needs to stop.

"We must have zero support for any form of marginalization."

That's pretty funny. I'm guessing people that respect people as individuals enough not to shove them into cute little simple minded demographics boxes are going to be marginalized. Lumping people into groups is the road to bias and bigotry. How about we just treat each person as the special and entirely unique individual that they are, the lone representative of the smallest possible minority, rather that saying 'I'm honored to work with a (insert group here)', which clearly suggests that you aren't honored, or aren't as honored, to work with groups you deem less desirable.

Sigh. Someday we truly will live in a place where each individual is respected and judged based on their character. Clearly it ain't happening any time soon though.

@1xcm+1h1a5UF7 I think most people don't have a problem with a diversity hire, but when the gatekeepers are incentivized to only hire PoCs or their bonus is impacted, and HR has let it be known that they are only looking to hire a PoC for a role, you cannot compare that to a color blind hire that only looks at qualifications.

@sna+1h1a5UF7: “all I ever hear about is diversity at this company… what more do people want out of corporate America?”

We want tolerance not just diversity. We want to exemplify and help bring about the fundamental transformation of this country and by extension the world. It’s more than just making money you know. I had a long talk with my manager. It was deeply moving. I realized some things about myself, changed my outlook. I told her I want the honor of working closely with a transgender, for example. We must have zero support for any form of marginalization. I’m glad my kids are being taught diversity, tolerance, and CRT in school. so it’s time this company goes all in with it too.

It's funny that the people that push DEI the hardest are the same people that believe that hiring the best person for the job will result in a less diverse workforce. Think about that for a second, and decide who the real racists.

Let's just focus on producing the best product, can we?

We should just follow the NBA’s model and hire the most qualified.
There’s a reason why programs need to be put in place to force hiring of lesser qualified individuals.

13% diversity and over 50% of all costs. Interesting.

problem here is to much diversity and not enough focus on hiring qualified people.

If you count all the people working overseas, I’m sure the company is quite diverse.

You can make numbers do anything you want if you manipulate them right.

Let's follow Martin Luther King's wisdom - judge me by the content of my character, not by the color of my skin! We even have a TRUE holiday for this ideal. I would add, in the workplace judge me by my merit (value). Diversity BS is just that, BS that encourages discrimination and lowering of standards bar so low that those with no merit or work ethic can join.

@sna, totally agree. Although I think this metric is flying in the face of the usual diversity pushes.

If you look at that website, it's measuring the opposite of where most of the DEI programs are headed. Much of what gets bundled into "DEI" pushes toward total uniformity and advocation of woke viewpoints, although there are some good sub-programs still surviving under the banner. In other words, does a company allow and not seek to alter a truly mixed bag of beliefs and viewpoints (conservative, liberal, left, right, different religions, etc)? Or do they push a single narrative on everyone? From that standpoint, it's kind of refreshing since it challenges the present DEI goals.
