Is everyone adhering to the dress code now that we are back in office? If so, why? I see a lot of people dressing to the 9s just to have conference calls then look at me weird for showing up in sweat pants and a shirt

Ge-z-us, people! How hard is it to put on a pair of comfortable khakis and a button-down shirt, or even a decent polo shirt?! Maybe hit the office clothes with an iron? Take some personal pride in your professional appearance!
I'm extremely proud of my decision to be comfortable and not waste money on clothes for no reason. Be glad I'm wearing pants and worry about your own wardrobe.

Athletic shoes are allowed. T shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes are fine.
Old boomer here. I hate neckties. What always happens is when the economy starts to sour, then the management class starts insisting on dress codes. And conversely, when the economy starts to expand, the management class relaxes on dress code.
When employees are hungry, they have to "suit up". When management is hungry, employees can "suit down".

You really draw self respect from your clothes? To each their own, if that's what works for you do it. I feel like an id--t when I "dress up" for no reason. Anyway, I'm not meeting anyone at the office. Been there a ton of times this year, there's like 3 people in a space that holds over 100 and the most conversation that happens is "excuse me" when you bump into someone coming out of the bathroom or "good morning" as you pass someone in the hall way. I'm too busy to goof off flapping my jibs was random people in different business groups, and I really can't talk to them about my work, so, yeah. I'll wear clothes that are passable but I'll leave the suits and collared shirts to others.

I have clothes on when I come in. That’s the best I’ll do considering that there is not one single person in my building who even knows who I am. I’ll dress “business appropriate” when I actually even tangentially know another person in the entire building.
I'll be the on in sweatpants, a wife beater, and crocs. If you want me in the office you get my pandemic wardrobe with me.
Well, our dress code is basically that we can’t wear ripped jeans, stained clothing, or shirts with offensive words/images. Oh, and I think I saw no pajama pants somewhere. Wear whatever you want, just remember to swipe your badge so you get credit for that RTO!
I dress better than my boss, and it doesn't take much. My wardrobe is very plain.
We just hired someone and this person showed up in athletic shoes. The dress code is something that was explained soon after the hiring.
When you witness blue jeans walking into the executive suite on the daily then you dont bat an eye at the flood of yoga pants coming in.
I work in IT, I'm allowed to look like a hardcore sysadmin.

SMH that you have some supposed asset allocation calculation on not looking like a slob. Only at WF would you read that kind of cr-p.

It's all about the wise allocation of resources. I could spend a few grand a year on spiffy business clothes, but it has nothing to do with my work product, therefore it's a misallocation of funds. No one in my group is at my assigned work place. No one knows who I am or what I do. No stakeholders or customers in my particular slice of the company see me in the office. So yeah, who or what exactly am I dressing up for? I don't show up in shorts and t shirts, but I'm not wearing collared shirts, ties, and slacks either. It's uncomfortable and a waste of money. Moreover, there are parts of the company where shorts and t-shirts ARE kosher, so let's not pretend that work is impossible without a tie.

The fact that professional people need a dress code speaks volumes of the level of professional some people are.
I’m not showing up in a 3 piece suit but my clothes are clean, pressed and appropriate for an office environment. If you don’t know what that is maybe Google it?
My manager shows up in baggy jeans, dirty sneakers, and shirts two sizes too small that ride up and display his shorts when he sits down.
I’ll be keeping things a little classier.
I haven’t seen a dress code nor have I seen any people. I work in an area with empty desks.
I didn't think I would, but I enjoy dressing up for the office days. I feel better about myself and feel more professional. Yes, I am from an older generation, just my two cents.
This is a joke, right? No need to dress up like you're going to a ball or a club. But showing up like you just rolled out of bed is not appropriate. You think you're "the dude" or something?
If only those "people" had any idea who I was, what group I'm in, what I do etc. they could leverage their bias to some effect. If only.

People judge you by the way you look whether you like it or not. If you look like a serious business person, that’s half the battle. The rest is being judged on your merit.
When I actually do end up having to RTO, I plan to dress up, tie and all. If they want us to be in the office, then do it seriously. I have a closet of that stuff from when I used to go into the office 8 years ago.

No, i’ve seen people in sweatpants, baseball hats, t-shirts while in the office. It’s very odd and i’d expect some memos to come out after they get the people showing up to the office on a regular basis. Hard to enforce any sort of dress code if they can’t enforce RTO.
Look like a slob, people will think you’re a slob. Life advice. The office is not the gym.
