Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Stop the scam

The corporation has been a playground for steady scam for over a decade. The astute, knowledgeable and ethical employees are long gone leaving behind the worst culprits and vultures. How will the sane people survive among snakes?

CSR in Annandale during last decade was a total scam. Worthless management and employees.

Well said op and @1dsm+1h2W4k6L. Spot on! Thanks for saying what we are all thinking. Makes me feel better knowing I’m not the only one feeling this way

Agree with @cyq+1h2W4k6L.

I left partly because of the lack of ethics.

This is the only company that I’ve worked for where managers are listed on patents when they have made no contribution to the invention. People are listed as authors on technical papers when they contributed nothing to the content. Outrageous example of marketing person who tried to pressure supplier/partners to list them as co-author to give themselves credibility. A manager who lied about market potential to built excitement with management about “his” idea. The list goes on and on.

Agree with @1dsm+1h2W4k6L.

It’s a scam. I had a section head (now DH) that try to “edit” my slides and failed at unit conversion. I quietly changed my slides back to correct the math errors.

And these are the people that make/guide business decisions?

Who in the he-l thought it was a good idea to put people who haven't performed Engineering for more than 2 years in charge of engineers, or people without a mechanical background in charge of crafts? If there were technical competency exams to get into management, none of the current managers would be in their current Baton Rouge positions. I swear they even forgot the ideal gas law. No wonder EMCO made us take basic math and basic chemistry WebCats in 2019. Looking at you, DHs.

The sane survive by switching off and milking the company for what they can for as long as they can. Disrespect works both ways, it's lose/lose but that's what the company has bred.

I was a experience hire, once I figure out that the main issue inside of Exxon is lack of ethics I left.
It’s not just about the raking and lay-offs but the way business is conducted.
My experience was excellent to learn everything I don’t want to be part of.
Once my Supervisor told me…work is 40% of your ranking the rest is exposure to other managers that will be in your session and network. WTF???

The top leadership has to be accountable for the culture and the systems in place that breeds the behaviors. When people are put into a cut throat environment and the ranking cycles each year, they will do what is necessary to survive. That’s not to say there are not plenty of snake in the grass.

You can’t. That’s why I left. I no longer recognized Baton Rouge. Engineering was the worst.
