If Tesla needs to lay off 10% of staff, while warning of a recession, Ford needs to layoff at least 30% and warn of a bankruptcy.

You have to look at the motivation also. Is this to raise the stock price? Or to save costs? they don't "need" to go beyond Tesla. They can go as far as is needed to bring the budget in order and then rehire your jobs straight out of college. You can switch industries and tell your kids never to work in auto. Everyone wins.

Musk was honest and said it is not profitable at this time to build an electric truck. That is probably exactly why Ford is full speed ahead, selling 201 Lightnings in February. Count ‘em, 201!!! I’d love to see the P&L for the Lightning.

It most certainly legitimizes Ford's layoff cadence and approach. Now they have at least a 10% target to point to but will probably approach 15-20% as one poster pointed out on a previous thread. If Ford was at least somewhat skeptical of mass layoffs, that's now gone with one Tesla send of an email.
@1yut Tesla is currently delivering over ten times the number of EVs Ford is, and profitably, at that. You seem clueless about reality, a perfect Ford employee!.
If Tesla is laying off 10% of their 100,000 global employees, Ford needs to layoff at least 20% of our 186,000 employees.
I wish them luck. Tesla already can't deliver a program to save their life.
