Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I'm outt'a here

This company is BS. I've lost too many nights sleep wondering who will win the PIP lottery. I've seen too many good people get PIP'd while others who should be fired without three months pay not only don't get PIP'd but actually get a raise. I figure it will be me at some point and like others say, once you are PIP'd, any career is over, you are branded the same as an experienced hire. I don't want to wait until I don't have options at other companies. I have been interviewing and have several job offers, all paying more with salary, bonus and/or RSUs. Once I get my 3% bonus check, I'm gone. I'll be gone before they can PIP me. I'm NSI'ing exxon. Look around, there are better companies, industries, and places to live. The best and easiest time to find another job is when you already have one.

Adios. You will not be missed. Thanks for helping XOM meeting its expense reduction targets, by resigning without any severance. plus XOM avoids pension liability

Most experienced hires are temporary hired hands. After I was lured away from my former company, a high level person told me that I should not expect too much in career advancement. Basically I will be well compensated, don’t rock the boat, and don’t expect much.

At any rate, all the experienced hires who onboarded me were the first ones to be PIP’ed. They actually did very good work. I was last man standing so decided to leave because no one cares about career progression or career interests.

Well said! That’s exactly what I did and ended up with a decent raise and benefits vs sh---y XOM. I have known others who waited till getting PIP’d and got the PIL but ended up finding a job with a slight pay cut.

Bottom line, it is always best to be proactive vs being reactive.

Don’t mimic the company you are currently working for (XOM) which has always been recently reactive and demonstrating the ideal definition of a looser.

What do you mean by equating PIP with experienced hire?

So leaving the company because you're afraid of having to leave the company. That part of your rant makes little sense.
