Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Dear Recruiters

You have 2 weeks to contact me before I withdraw my internal applications. We are getting less than 10 applications for jobs yet you cannot seem to figure out how to schedule time to screen qualified candidates. I would even be willing to take a little less money. What the he-l is going on with this place.

They only open reqs to do off the books "promotions" with backfill. They had enough applicants for the fake interview, so you were not needed. Apply at a real company.

Talent acquisition and recruiting are severely understaffed and overwhelmed due to the huge numbers of open requisitions. It is taking forever to get through the process.

Really sad state of affairs. What a mess!

Its because they need (are required now by hr) to have 50% of candidate pool as DEI candidates, they can't start interviews until they reach that. I had a position that sat idle for 2+ months where I knew we had good people to interview, but because of the DEI nonsense, I had to wait. Just one of the many reasons why I quit last year.

OP, all departments including recruiting have been hit by layoffs and have been affected negatively by covid. Ever go to a retail place where you see help wanted signs while you're ordering or paying? It is nearly everywhere and in nearly all departments.

Charlie has to announce that they're going to retrain recruiters and hiring managers to not conduct sham interviews. Expect more delays in hiring because apparently that staff doesn't understand to not spend their time wasting it on interviews they know are going no where.

The bar at this place is so low and it is pathetic.

I applied for a lot of internally positions through Wells within the last 3 months. Either never heard anything back, or had a negative experience interviewing with the hiring manager (going through the motions). I finally had enough and started applying elsewhere. Got interviews in a timely matter and multiple offers to mull over. Eventually accepted a position that pays me very well and is fully remote with plenty of growth potential. So happy to leave to this cr-p company!

Waited 5 weeks on my last internal app prior to leaving...and then it was canceled without explanation. So glad I left, application to offer in one week!

I applied for something a few weeks back and a week later got an email sent to my personal account for me to click a link to schedule a time with the recruiter. All very automated and nice. found a time that worked for me and had a nice convo with the recruiter and got passed along to the hiring manager who I am working with now.

You’re doing yourself and HR a big favor if you just withdraw now, but don’t do it for them, do it for you. Hanging on to the hope that some hiring manager is going to recognize your value where your current manager doesn’t is only holding you back from moving forward somewhere else and on top of that it’s demoralizing because the longer it goes on the more you start to believe that maybe you don’t have as much to offer as you think. Don’t let the ba----ds get you down. Believe in yourself and go somewhere else to get what you’re worth and have opportunities that simply no longer exist at WF if you’re an internal candidate.

What I don’t get is why it they are not interested in considering you for the position, why they just don’t reject you for the position. It is a little crazy to keep people hanging for weeks (and months) without changing the status at all. Just send a rejection!

They don't care about internal talent. Any id--t from JPM is viewed as a better candidate than a WF employee. It's so messed up and toxic.

The reality. Hey op; sorry I have to tell you but it’s most likely one of these reasons:

  1. HR is swamped and rather than hire staff they bring in consultants from a 3rd party - who have bias about internal employees
  2. the hiring manager is slammed - they are flailing and don’t know how to get their head above water to hire more folks.
  3. leadership has cancelled the role - but they don’t close it on workday because that would show up in a report
  4. that hiring manager thinks Wells Fargo internal talent isn’t good enough and only wants outsiders
  5. you haven’t licked enough anuses to get ahead - those middle managers love nose time get up in there. Work unpaid hours and one day you will either get promoted, but most likely get laid off prior to…..but remember they were gonna promote you.

The position is earmarked for connected people, why do they need to call you?

Workday would not allow req’s to be cancelled. So you would see positions listed that for whatever reason should be cancelled, but the system would not allow it.

WF: I have applied to 20 jobs over the last 6 months. They're in unfilled status for 3-6 months with no updates.

External: One place I applied and 30min later their HR was calling me asking for salary info to make sure it was a good fit.

In many areas, internal people are NOT considered to be "qualified candidates".

HR is way overbooked and understaffed. I have two reqs out there and nothing seems to happen unless I hound the recruiter

Don’t bother with this place. The grass is NOT greener in another group. Until there is a massive clean up of management across the board, the toxicity remains regardless which group you go to. This place is bottom of the barrel with management and they foster and encourage this bias, discriminatory, corrupt and lack of knowledge environment. This is the reason why talent will not stay here bc it’s a duump, unless you are good at kissing those a^*. If so, be sure to polish off those l1ps because there will be a lot of work in that department. Good luck!

Even if you land the job the raise won't be big. Better to get an external offer.
