Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Talent going to competitors

Several of my colleagues who are excellent workers have gone to competing companies. I don't understand how Intel became so weak that it just surrenders its best and most capable employees to the competition so easily. Is leadership powerless to at least slow down the departure of the best workers or does it not care at all about the competitive advantage of the company?

Do they care about losing a competitive advantage? Yes, absolutely. But I’ve just accepted as fact that most Intel leaders don’t really provide any value to Intel. You also generally only hear from them when they get hired, have a pie in sky project with some acronym, send out awards/promotions or when they leave.

In any case, Intel will survive. What INTEL does well it excels at and is difficult to beat. The eye sores and the skeletons just come with big corporate waste. And losing excellent employees just comes with the territory when you’re large and laughably inefficient.

Intel wants the best technical talent gone. The number one fear of an Intel manager is to have himself and his pet PE/fellow exposed as frauds.

Why would a talented person want to stay at Intel?

Intel is like IBM.
Still around, but totally irrelevant and staffed with mediocrity.

Intel is losing talent. But to be fair it's no longer common for anyone to spend their entire career at the same company. And there are so many opportunities. Intel isn't the only company facing this. The bigger problem is not having good enough people to fill those shoes.

Can't blame people for trying to get out of the complete cesspool, maybe they don't want to lose their faith in humanity. The longer you stay the more permanent the damage.
