Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Weird, the word “team member” or “mate” turned into a no no

Maybe it was the first sign of the fall.
When you aren’t a team you are alone. When you are alone it allows fear to come in. Leadership removed that word from the vocab and added the BS candor piece to the mission as a way to demean even more.
You don’t have actual leaders at wf you have people who are trying not to get laid off next. With the asset cap, this place is a sinking ship. Charles in charge doesn’t give a darn because his personal wealth has exudes generational wealth.
If you are working here, I get it. It’s a job. But use it as a step not as a landing pad. This place will eat you alive.

I rate a bunch of people. There's no quota. I've never had a "1", ever. And no one has ever told me that I need some for my reviews to be approved. What there IS is pressure to not have "to many" people in exceeds or consistently exceeds. I agree that that's a total load of S, but if you can document the heck out of it you can get those also. I've done it myself, so don't tell me it's impossible or 'they won't let you'. The current posture from upper management is the direct result of years where low level managers would give everyone on their team a 4, even people who should be a 2, just so they don't have to have an uncozy conversation about it. The response from upper management is stupid as well, I agree, but that's how we got here. Hopefully after a few years of normalization we can get back to a review process with no pressure to do anything but accurately rate each employee, but any manager telling you that a rating higher than meets is impossible is really saying "I'm not willing to push for it and write a good though review to justify it".

No - I noticed all the removal of benefits immediately and, just as immediately, found another job. One where I am not being taken advantage of daily by a$$ho!e senior management team of money grabbers supported by mostly spineless middle managers.

Honestly - GTFO of this company. You will be SO glad and so surprised that other companies and organizations very much value what you have to offer.

And yet here is the cult with pitchforks. Maybe he wasn’t too far off…

Don’t forget - Charlie also said in the town hall that we sounded like a cult when he heard the word “team member” used here. So much for caring about morale!

SVB still uses it a lot along with many others. Chuckie got his jobs through his daddy; he has no idea how to be part of a team.

I dunno, @1bvp, we sure seem to need quite a few attorneys for some reason.

It makes my skin crawl when they call the company: “the FIRM”. Did the entire executive team take a class on what to call “the company”, cause they all do it now. I truly want to scream when I hear that. This is a company. Not a freakin law firm!!!!!

@czb+1hAeXOlp - Chuckie is bothered by it because he was always picked last for “team” sports. Check out the replay of one of his prior town halls from earlier this year and you’ll see his sports-related meltdown.

Poor baby was picked as the last resort for Wells too.

I don’t really understand why Charlie is apparently bothered by it, but I also don’t really understand why anyone is bothered by the fact that Charlie is bothered by it. It’s all a big nothing.

Well, calling everyone an employee is just for starters. How many of you have missed the fact that they no longer match your 401K every quarter? Did you know it is only matched once per year AND only if you survive until December 15th of each year? If they can you, you don't get a prorated match and if you leave on your own before Dec 15 - same deal - NO MATCH. Add that to giving at least 15% of you an Inconsistently Meets (by their quota requirement) and another 5% doesn't meet or whatever a "1" is now, and you can see this is all designed to run off good people so as to save severance, 401K match and bonus money. I'm telling you - IF you consider yourself valuable, its time to leave WF.

@wdv there may be no policy but we spent tons renaming everything enterprise-wide. How is what he did any different than reminding him to use TM?

There is no policy barring you from using any terms. Charlie said he won’t use those terms but anyone else can use them if they wish.

I think it is incredibly stupid to not call others team members or team mates. I say it anyway. If someone wants to write me up, by all means. Write me up for working with others as a team.

We use those terms all the time. I use it when communicating with our LOB execs…
