Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

No longer trying to express any ideas or opinions

It's not that managers ignore the ideas of employees, but in most cases it happens that those who present some ideas and try to be maximally engaged, are labeled as difficult and problematic employees here. Why is that? I know several other people to whom this happened, it's not just me.

Try the word sandwich method!
Boss: “We’re doing it this way, even though it’s less productive and will result in our customers thinking it’s defective.”
You (making word sandwich): “I really appreciate your well thought out process and it has been a great success in the past. I propose we also trial doing this (insert your idea). I think that this slight modification to your process will amplify our results and our team will be recognized for smart risk taking and innovative collaboration.”
Word Sandwich = compliment + new idea + compliment

I agree, it depends on your business unit and boss. I've had supervisors who have been very open and supportive of suggestions and others who just don't care and in the worst case one who said don't bring a problem unless you also bring the solution.

Depends on your business unit. Some encourage innovation and creativity, others just want to keep you under their thumb.

And even if they do like your suggestion, it gets twisted and turned into their idea! Happened to me, so yeah, I quit expressing anything as well.
