Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Have you seen or experienced burn out in Product Development or Manufacturing?

I was wondering if anyone has experienced a colleague or maybe themselves of exhaustion or maybe even burn out?
The reason I am asking is because in the past few years the pace in certain areas of the company has been very fast due to prototype count reductions, increased program load, and increased complexity in PD. And manufacturing has seen high demand due to plant transitions and obviously pandemic effects.

Been in PD over 30 years. While everyday hasn't been perfect, it has had nothing to do with burnout. Burnout is usually reserved for persons who have real life critical jobs ... police, fire, medical profession, etc or someone who is in the wrong profession and is confusing burnout with being overwhelmed by a job they're not very good at.

I hear you 2upr.
We have a guy who has been running his restaurant (literally at the restaurant every workday) since WFH began. Everyone on the team knows it and one guy’s wife even videotaped the guy for a week because he was claiming OT every week even though he was not working 8-5 MTWTF. The video was given to LL6 and LL5 and nothing has been done, probably because the LL6 is a non-worker himself. The behavior also reported to Ford report line.
Then the kicker the contractor who had been doing all the work got let go this July, but this loafer is still here. Corporate welfare at its finest.
Odds are the upcoming in-voluntaries will let go the whistle-blower and retain the loafer.

I am not doing ANYTHING outside of 8 hour days and 40 hour weeks unless compensated, which they throw a fit about OT. I am not checking my phone for text or emails or answering calls even to my personal phone.

People sending emails late into the evening and night, but fail to answer calls & emails during normal business hours is completely ridiculous and unacceptable. Too many people got too comfortable with not coming in and participating with a normal business day, and we wonder why quality is in the gutter!? I'm certain that there are people who have a 2nd job, or at least a "side gig", and focus on that during normal business hours. I know there are people who have moved completely out of the area, whether that means up north or a different state, and are taking advantage of people actually doing work and not just in meetings all day. Even other employees have confessed to others that they are no longer in the area and moved.

Oh and shuttle service has been shutdown since COVID, so if it takes me a while to get to and from places to drop off or pick up vehicles, so be it. I have walked miles between facilities because people URGENTLY NEED a vehicle, but will not return the favor to drive me back.

Ford is babying these people that are not contributing and allowing for such behavior. They wonder why quality is cr-p, maybe it's because the people are completely removed from the products. Morale is low because everyone is burnt out.

Burn-out is being experienced by nearly all the doers at Ford. Ford work is VERY different from school, and is not a meritocracy. Being highly competent means that people will keep you in a position until you burn out. It starts out slowly and then they really put you thru the meat grinder all the while dangling a carrot that can never be reached.
Once they have ground you up they sp-t you out -> lay you off / deploy certain tactics to ‘encourage’ attrition.

Put in your 40 hours, take all your paid time off every year (vacation, personal days, sick days). Leave any work that cannot be accomplished in 40 hours undone. management will not address the ocean of non-contributors while they can pressure a few workers to do all the work
