Death, Taxes, BK stock in 40’s

LOL our stock has been in the 40’s since Bush was president. How incompetent is this BoD that they can’t figure it out? Is anyone home?

@OP

I’ve read that our stock price was the inspiration for the 1990 “Flatliner” movie.

Our slow and steady sideways stock progression should explode in September when the results of the 4 year Digital Transformation program are released. Operations staff cuts alone guarantee a huge upwards earnings surprise.

Those activists didn't go far enough. Where was the accountability? Installing a hot shot CEO is just one of the tools in the activist toolbox.

We had activists share holders and we got Chuck as a result. What did he do to turn around the company? He hired his friends, then dumped us for more money, taking some of his friends with him.

Disagree completely. Financial services was the hottest sector of the market through the entire decade of the 1990s, and Mellon Bank was the best performer in the sector… doubling in value in under 10 years.

What happened? Acquisition 7 years later by a bank with antiquated technology and primitive products in the Custody space.

We HAVE had anyone who could run a bank INTO THE GROUND since 1998.

Period.

No, really it is just Incompetent leadership. You can see this by the “plan” for organic growth. As in the three previous rounds with this strategy:

  1. Organic Growth is not a strategy. It is a goal.
  2. Putting it as a goal on a PowerPoint is not a plan
  3. thinking through a plan to grow organic growth is the third step.

We have never progressed beyond step 2. Stay tuned as it will surface as a “strategy” for the fourth time in another 2 years.

No, they don't care because they're all very wealthy and enjoying their cozy board jobs where they all pat each other on the back. Nothing will change until an influential activist shareholder or two buy a meaningful percent of stock and start making demands, i.e., replacing board seats with their own people and aggressively holding the firm accountable for share prices.
