I guess the point is they try to get across with their arrogance that they are in charge. My manager enjoys putting pressure or even blame on us and does it constantly. I'm almost used to it and I'll try to ignore such behavior until I leave here. However, are they aware that arrogance affects the entire company very badly? I have never had a manager with a more inflated ego anywhere before.

Never worked for a 1st line manager that I thought was 'arrogant' at IBM.
Tried to avoid any manager above 2nd line, esp when I was in GBS. Systems better.
I wish people would say what part of IBM they were in. I think the different pieces have widely different styles.
I worked for a fellow who had his chair set high and the chair visitors sat in set low so he could look down on you.
When I join his team I noticed this right away and from then on I always stood up for our meetings. When he would tell me to sit I would just reply my back is stiff and I rather stand. He did not like that but I got to chuckle on my way out of the office because it always seemed to throw him off a bit.
My manager was clueless and my VP was a cheat!
I must agree this is likely cause and effect of the systemic top-down culture. The funny part is, those arrogant managers are so good at sucking up to their management.
It is taught from the top down so they think that is how managing is done. It's the definition of systemic
