@dum

Look at the posting date. Tons of jobs have been posted three months or further back where they have no intention of filling.

Good article.

She has emphaty.

She cares.

Our execs do not.

Corporations now. Companies used to value employees. Now you always work feeling like you a just one day away from being terminated. Not a healthy environment.

We all know the answer to that. They want to go cheap and offshore.

Why are there so many job openings at Wells Fargo if there will be layoffs?

I recall similar experience where people would cry openly in HR Office when being told they are being laid off - it was all glass walls so there was no privacy. We would all felt bad for that employee. Then there would be occasions where groups of people would be led into conference rooms and we had to have boxes at hand for them to pack their things after the lay-off meeting. That was hard on us too even though we still had our jobs. It was through them that I see the devastation from being laid off. I will never forget those days.

I do know that Sales, Marketing and over-paid admin (not their fault for being over-paid) are always the first to go in a financial downturn.

Been there done that. It's at-will work and people forget that (until they get laid off).

Wells Fargo is no different than any other company. no one goes into a job wanted to or even expecting layoffs but it happens. if you need proof look at all the other companies on this site.

The Company that is so committed to people, lol. Their hr practices and culture is not only rotten it's abusive. Everyone works under constant layoff threats, what a way to run a company.

Having been down the Layoff road (like many here), the worse part of it for me was the constant drip-drip-drip of one layoff after another.

Everybody would be in the office, and one person would be called into the office. "John, have you got a minute...?". Everybody would get quiet, and you could feel the tension spike in the room.

Then the poor fellow would have to do the walk of shame, often escorted by "security".

A week later somebody elses name would be called, which everyone was expecting and which was always the unspoken elephant in the room. And the process would repeat.

I never understood why some people were let go, and others were kept. No logical reason that I could ever see. I strongly suspect it's purely how much the decision maker likes you (or not).
