I believe the ESG woke crowd in the administration are serious about this, no matter how disastrous the consequences are. Need to plan accordingly. $5 gas is going to look cheap in the future thanks to the anti-fossil fuel agenda.

Gas is effectively $10/gal (USA gal) in the UK. The USA government needs to focus on building the next generation infrastructure needed for alternative energy before it worries about thottellng back hydrocarbon production. Today alternatives (all alternatives together) are simply not a viable solution at scale.
