Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Work smarter instead of harder

I see so many of the younger employees breaking their backs for a company that's only going to reward them with more work and then get rid of them the first chance it gets. Stop working that hard and start working smarter. It might not be ideal, but if you kiss up to your manager you have a better chance of advancing than by working hard. No shame in it if that's what everybody is doing.

Younger workers working harder hahaha..I have not seen it. Long lunches. to the gym out by 5:00PM, constantly texting and never around if issues come up on the weekends. I have had the exact opposite experience with younger workers in our org. It is as if they don't care or are not worried about their job.

'attitude among so many longterm T employees'.....Well, whippersnapper, let me fill you in. Since we were Cingular we longterm T employees have:

  1. had our phone concession go from 100% to the mere pittance it is today
  2. had 10 DAYs of vacation taken away from us. 10 days pal
  3. lost all healthcare retirement benefits. ALL
  4. been 'urged' to use uVerse, Directv and Internet only to see all of those be totally wiped or dropped to very low discounts.

So, add that into your judgement when you hear how we aren't totally motivated to lay it on the line for these miserable execs. I'll keep working at the most leisurely pace I can until they fire me too. Would have retired except my 401K is now 2 years behind what it was thanks to their stupid merger moves that left us neck deep in depth.

This attitude among so many longterm T employees is exactly what is wrong with the company.
